A log cabin quilt but not as you know it. Learn how to make this gorgeous contemporary quilt constructed as a single log cabin block using giant 'logs' of varying width, perfect to add a splash of colour to a sofa or bed.

Join Jen Kelson from Cake Card Cloth at the Make HQ Studio for this three part workshop. Learn the basic techniques of patchwork and quilting and construct a beautiful lap quilt in the process. The simple construction techniques used in the Modern Vintage quilt makes it a fantastic first patchwork project.

Grade - confident beginners: This workshop is suitable for those with little or no previous experience of patchwork and quilting.  Only simple sewing techniques are required however you will need to know how to use a sewing machine, sew in a straight line and know how to use a rotary cutter.

Quilt Dimensions - Size is approx 40 ins by 50 ins (100 cm by 130 cm)

During the class we will cover the following:

  • Tips on sewing your strips so that your quilt stays square and doesn't twist.
  • How to layer your quilt 'sandwich' and secure using basting pins
  • Straight line quilting using a walking foot
  • Binding your quilt

Note: There is no pre-work required for this class however some homework maybe required between the workshops.
