Grade Beginners: This workshop is suitable for beginners, but you will need to have some previous experience of threading up a machine, sewing in a straight line and know how to use a rotary cutter.
Join us and Karen Chapman at the Make HQ Studio for this three part workshop. Learn the basic techniques of patchwork and quilting and construct a beautiful lap quilt.
During the class we will cover the following:
- Fabric choice and preparation
- Cutting out and preparing the blocks
- Basic block construction
- How to layer your quilt 'sandwich'
- Quilting techniques
- Binding and quilt finishing techniques
Please bring along your sewing machine, if you don’t have one no problem we can provide one but please let email@example.com know in advance. If bringing your own sewing machine please can we ask that you also bring along the manual. If you wish to borrow a sewing machine or sewing machine accessories there will be a returnable £10 cash deposit to be paid at the beginning of the workshop.We do have some equipment for you to use but before the class begins we will send you a pre-read which will include a list of everything you will need to bring with you.
