We sell our fabrics by the unit which is a metric fat quarter and although fabrics can vary in size, (please see individual product pages for widths) typically a unit measures approximately 50cm x 55cm. If you order more than one unit then we will cut this as one length. If for any reason this is not possible, we will contact you before posting. We have listed a table below to help you in deciding how many units you will need to get the length of fabric you require.
I unit = 55cm wide x 50cm long
2 units = 110cm wide x 50cm long (1/2 metre)
3 units = 110cm wide x 75cm long
4 units = 110cm wide x 100 cm long (1 metre)
5 units = 110cm wide x 125cm long
6 units = 110cm wide x 150cm long (1 1/2 metres)
7 units = 110cm wide x 175cm long
8 units = 110cm wide x 200cm long (2 metres)
The individual product page will state if any of our fabrics are sold in measurements other than fat quarters.
Please be aware that unless otherwise stated on the individual product page the fabrics on our website are not suitable for childrens' sleepwear.
We know (we’ve done it ourselves!) that when you’re planning your next creation, picturing your group of chosen fabrics together can be difficult; especially when you’re doing this on screen. So, if there is a combination of our fabrics that you would like to see together, please contact us and if we can, we will send you a picture. We will try really hard to get back to you within 2 working days because we understand that those flashes of inspiration need acting upon!
We know how important it is to represent colours accurately and we pride ourselves on getting the best photos we can. We never digitally enhance our own pictures and use only natural light so that you get the clearest, most realistic image of the fabrics you are looking at. If colour accuracy is vital in your project, please do contact us and we will send you a sample.
Preparation of fabrics
We would always recommend washing fabrics on a cool short wash using a mild detergent before cutting, especially if you are using different makes/types of fabrics together. Always wash like colours together. Following these guidelines will help with possible colour running and also any shrinkage of fabrics; it’s always better to be safe than sorry! If you are washing charm packs, jelly rolls or other small pieces of fabrics putting them in an old pillow case or washing bag is always easier and helps prevent fraying.
We take payments using most major debit and credit cards and through PayPal but you do not need to have a PayPal account to purchase fabric through Fabric HQ. Domestic Postage
There’s nothing more frustrating than, having planned your super creation, finding yourself waiting around for your fabric to arrive so that you can get stuck in. That’s why we aim to post all fabrics within 2 working days of your order being completed. We use Royal Mail First Class delivery as standard so that your fabric gets to you as quickly as possible.We charge a flat rate of £2.75 for all domestic postage for orders less than £75. For all orders over that amount we offer free second class Royal Mail Postage and sometimes, depending on the weight and size of a parcel, we use a courier service.
All parcels upto 500g will be posted using Royal Mail Standard International and over 500g by Royal Mail International Signed For and the addition cost has been added to the charts for your information. Our customers are responsible for all customs duties, fees and/or taxes accrued if shipping outside the UK. Customs forms will be filled out with correct retail value and with an accurate description of the items purchased.
If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your goods and we’ll do our best to put things right. Please be aware that cut lengths of fabric cannot be returned unless they are faulty or damaged when received. We will cover the cost of return postage for any faulty goods - please email us before returning any items and we will exchange them or give you a full refund within 7 days of us receiving the returned faulty goods. Please ensure that proof of postage is obtained when returning goods. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
