Where: Fabric HQ, Layby Farm, Old Risborough Road, Stoke Mandeville, Buckinghamshire, HP22 5XJ.  

Join Barbara Orth at the Make HQ Studio and learn how to make two really cute drawstring bags ideal for all your bits and bobs, make-up, PJ's, toiletries or a gift for someone special. You will have to opportunity to make two different sizes of drawstring bags using the drawstring technique.

They can be made with matching or contrasting fabrics, the possibilities are endless.

Level: This workshop is perfect for beginners and improvers but must be able to use a rotary cutter and competent on a sewing machine.

What to bring:

  • Your sewing machine
  • Your normal sewing kit and thread

Large bag fabric requirements:

  • Exterior fabric - 1/2 metre or 2 x 14" by 14" (36 x 36cm)
  • Lining fabric – 1/2 metre or 2 x 14" by 14" (36 x 36cm)

Small bag fabric requirements:

  • Exterior fabric - 1/2 metre or 2 x 9" by 9" (29 x 29cm)
  • Lining fabric – 1/2 metres or 2 x 9" by 9" (29 x 29cm)

Please note that if you decide to make the bags out of the same fabric you will only need 3/4 metre of both the exterior and lining fabric.

We provide:

  • Various colours of string and beads to chose from
  • Pattern instruction to take away plus any additional workshop notes
  • Refreshments 

We do have some equipment for you to use but before the class begins we will send you a pre-read which will include a list of everything you will need to bring with you. 

    Please bring along your sewing machine, if you don’t have one no problem we can provide one but please let make@fabrichq.co.uk know in advance. If bringing your own sewing machine please can we ask that you also bring along the manual. If you wish to borrow a sewing machine or sewing machine accessories there will be a returnable £10 cash deposit to be paid at the beginning of the workshop.
    You should receive a pre-read a least 10 days prior to the workshop date so please do contact make@fabrichq.co.uk if you do not received this email - please do check your junk folder in case it's made it's way there first.
    Once you have signed up to the class you will receive a single use 10% off fabric discount code to be used at www.fabrichq.co.uk or in our shop. If you wish for us to email your discount code before the class so that it can be used online, please drop us an email. Please note this 10% class discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount offer.

    If you are booking this workshop for someone else please let us know his or her name, email address and contact number so we can send on the workshop information prior to class. If you'd rather we didn't contact them because it was booked as a gift then please add this along with their details to the notes section.
