Skill Level: Beginners
Learn some of the basic techniques for Japanese Sashiko and Boro quilting, including origins/history of sashiko, equipment and materials needed, types of stitch designs used, marking the design, stitching techniques, rules etc.
Amanda Seaborne from Sewn-Up will guide you through the technique, with the option to turn your samples into coasters. You will also be shown how to stitch Japanese mending (boro), including a template for a knot bag.
All materials for making 4 coasters will be provided.
- 1 FQ navy linen
- 1 FQ of plain for backing
- Scraps of wadding
- 1x Sashiko needle
- Cream Sashiko thread
- Pattern instructions on making and finishing samples as coasters
